Baseball Sweeps Williams, Loses Twice To Southern Maine

The Gustavus baseball team swept Williams College 14-12 in nine innings and 9-6 late Monday night before losing to Southern Maine 17-8 and 10-2 on Tuesday in Chandler, Ariz. The Gusties needed late inning rallies in both games to defeat the Ephs, but were unable to keep the offense going against the 10th-ranked Huskies. Gustavus is now 6-8 overall and will wrap up its Spring Break trip against Oberlin College on Wednesday.

Baseball Swept By Buena Vista After Late Inning Rallies 4-7, 8-11

The Gustavus baseball team lost early leads in both games of a doubleheader against Buena Vista as the Gusties fell 4-7 and 8-11 on Sunday afternoon in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Beavers hit a walk-off three-run home run in the seventh inning to win game one and scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the victory in game two. Gustavus fell to 3-3 overall, while Buena Vista improved its record to 5-1.

Baseball Team Sweeps Doubleheader Against Wartburg

The Gustavus baseball team earned a doubleheader sweep over Wartburg College on Sunday night at the Metrodome. Cody Sukalski and Jake Kruegel combined to pitch a shutout for a 3-0 win in game one, while a nine-run sixth inning gave the Gusties a 13-6 win for the sweep. Gustavus, which is now 3-1 overall, will travel to Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 15 with the first pitch at 1 p.m.

Gustavus Baseball Ready To Contend For MIAC Title In 2009

The Gustavus baseball team will open its 2009 season with a non-conference doubleheader against Loras College of Dubuque, Iowa at the Metrodome on Saturday. The Gusties will be led by veterans Mike DesLauriers and Nate Ruff. The Duhawks, who are a member of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, will also be playing in their first game of the season.

Pat Siering, Robby Wiens Earn Post-Season Honors for Baseball Team

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball coaches recently released their post-season awards and Gustavus Adolphus College seniors Pat Siering (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Robby Wiens (Burnsville, Minn.) were recognized with awards. Siering, a first baseman, was named to the All-Conference Team for the second consecutive year, while Wiens, an outfielder, was named to the Sportsmanship Team.

Baseball Opens MIAC Tournament Against St. Thomas On Friday, Second Game Will Be Broadcast On KNUJ

The Gustavus baseball team will open MIAC Post-Season Tournament play on Friday at 3:30 against St. Thomas in Dundas at Memorial Park. If Gustavus would win they would play at 7 pm at Dundas, if the Gusties would lose they would play at 7 pm at Sechler Park in Northfield. Baseball Team Stays Alive In MIAC Tournament With 7-3 Win Over Hamline, Saturday’s Game Moved Up To 11:00 AM

The Gustavus baseball team lost its first game in the MIAC Tournament to St. Thomas 11-3, but then rebounded with a 7-3 win over Hamline in the nightcap. The Gusties will now face St. Olaf on Saturday morning in the consolation final at 11:00 am. The game was originally scheduled for 1 pm, however with rain forecast for the afternoon, the starting time has been moved to 11 am in Dundas at Memorial Park.

Junior Varsity Game With Bethany Lutheran Has Been Cancelled

The Gustavus baseball junior varsity team's game scheduled with Bethany Lutheran College at Gustavus on Tuesday afternoon has been cancelled due to rain. The game will not be rescheduled.

Two Late Game Rallies Allow Baseball Team To Sweep Augsburg And Clinch Playoff Spot

The Gustavus baseball team clinched a MIAC Playoff spot with two dramatic victories over Augsburg on Sunday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning to win game one 8-6, and then scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to win game two 4-3. Gustavus is now 20-16 overall and 12-8 in the MIAC.

Baseball Suffers 7-3 Loss To Saint Mary’s In Completion Of Suspended Game

The Gustavus baseball team failed to rally in the final three innings of a suspended game with Saint Mary's and suffered a 7-3 loss to the Cardinals in St. Peter on Thursday afternoon. The game, which originally started on April 21, was resumed in the bottom of the fourth inning with Saint Mary's leading 7-1. The Gusties scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the lead to 7-3, but the Cardinals held on for the victory.
