The Gustavus men's hockey team inched ever closer to locking up a spot in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs with an 8-6 win over Augsburg Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. Gustavus improves its record to 14-7-1 overall, 9-4 in the MIAC. Augsburg falls to 6-13-3 overall, 2-8-3 in the MIAC. The teams will complete the home-and-home series Saturday evening at Augsburg Ice Arena in Minneapolis. Game time is 7 p.m.

Women’s Basketball Sprints Past Augsburg 67-44

Sophomore guard Jess Vadnais scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Gustavus women's basketball team to a 67-44 victory over Augsburg Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. First-year Emily Nelson added 10 points, while senior Sara Boldt and junior Erin Boese finished with nine points for the Gusties, who moved to 17-5 overall, 15-4 in the MIAC.

The Gustavus women's basketball team raced out to a 27-8 lead midway through the first half en route to a 75-64 win over Augsburg on Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis. Jess Vadnais scored 19 points to lead the Gusties, while Kenzie Consoer added 13 off the bench. Gustavus improves to 9-3 overall, 7-2 in the MIAC and will travel to St. Joseph on Wednesday for a game with league-leader College of Saint Benedict.

Women’s Soccer Slips Past Augsburg 1-0

Sophomore Jenna Iaizzo (White Bear Lake, Minn.) scored in the 22nd minute to provide the only scoring as the Gustavus women's soccer team topped Augsburg 1-0 Wednesday night in Minneapolis. The Gusties won their second straight match to improve to 6-10-1 overall, 3-6-1 in the MIAC.

Volleyball Downs Augsburg 3-0

The Gustavus volleyball team got back on the winning track Friday night by beating Augsburg in three games (30-11, 30-16, 30-18). Gustavus was led by junior outside hitter Jessica Plemel (Owatonna, Minn.) with 14 kills and first-year Bridget Burtzel (Cold Spring, Minn.) with 41 assists. Senior Billie Painschab and sophomore Katie LaGrave led the Auggies offensively with five kills apiece. The Gusties improve to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the MIAC, while Augsburg falls to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in league play.
