Men’s Cross Country Takes Sixth at UW-La Crosse

The Gustavus men’s cross country team took sixth place out of 21 teams Saturday at the UW-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational. Host UW-La Crosse won the event, St. Olaf took second, and Iowa Central Community College placed third.

Men’s Cross Country Takes Fifth at Wartburg

The Gustavus men's cross country team traveled to Wartburg Saturday for the Dan Hutson Invitational where the Gusties finished fifth of 17 teams. 

Cross Country Wins Three-Team Crown Invite

The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams Saturday both took first of three teams at the Crown College Invitational. The Gustie men totaled 17 points with St. Thomas taking second at 46 points and Martin Luther with 85 points. The Gustie women posted 16 points compared to 51 by Crown and 74 from Martin Luther.

Cross Country Starts 2019 Season with Alumni Meet Saturday

The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams unofficially kick off their 2019 campaigns Saturday by running in the annual alumni meet. The women’s race starts at 10 a.m. and the men are at 10:45 a.m.

Hensch Wins Third MIAC Outstanding Field Athlete, Rooney and Stumbo Join on All-MIAC Team

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its men’s track & field postseason awards Thursday and three Gustavus student-athletes received recognition. Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) was named Outstanding Field Athlete after winning the grand slam of throwing events, while Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) and Andrew Stumbo (So., Boone, Iowa) earned All-Conference as well.

Men’s Track & Field in Second After Day One of MIAC Championships

The Gustavus men’s track & field team sits in second place with 43 points after seven events scored Friday at the MIAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by the University of St. Thomas. The Gusties earned two conference titles, broke two MIAC meet records, while four more advanced to the finals Saturday.

The Gustavus men’s track & field team Saturday took second the Carleton Relays with 165 points, 34 shy of first place Minnesota-Duluth (Division II).  Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) and Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) both had breaking-setting performances.

Men’s Track & Field Takes Home Five First-Place Finishes at Mustang Open

The Gustavus men’s track & field team competed at the Mustang Open at Mount Mercy University on Saturday as a full team for the first time this outdoor season. Andrew Stumbo, Taylor Rooney, Alex Wischnack, and Michael Hensch all led the Gusties with first place finishes in their respective events.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its 2018 Cross Country All-Academic individuals Thursday and Gustavus student-athletes Andrew Stumbo (So., Boone, Iowa) and Iliana Ramon (Fy., Fairmont, Minn.) were recognized with the honor as individuals, and both the men's and women's team received the honor as well.
