In a back and forth battle from start to finish Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink, the No. 4-ranked Gustavus women’s hockey team and No. 8-ranked St. Thomas skated to a scoreless draw. The 0-0 overtime tie is the first since Jan. 14, 2011 vs. Trinity (Conn.) and just the third in program history, which includes 582 games over 21 seasons.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team is set to drop the puck on the 2017-18 campaign Saturday against the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Action begins 2 p.m. at Siinto S. Wessman Arena in Superior, Wis. The Gusties are coming off their 14th MIAC Championship season, where they boasted a 13-2-3 record in the league (19-7-3 overall), and finished third at the NCAA Championships. UW-Superior opens its season tonight against Concordia-Wisconsin. The Yellowjackets posted a 12-15 overall record last season and went 2-7 in the WIAC.

Amanda DiNella Becomes First Gustavus Women’s Hockey Goaltender Named All-America

Gustavus women's hockey sophomore goaltender Amanda DiNella was selected to the 2017 NCAA Division III CCM Women's Hockey All-American West First Team, released this evening by the American Hockey Coaches Association. DiNella becomes the 15th player, fifth sophomore, and first ever goalie in Gustavus Women's Hockey history to earn the prestigious honor, the last recognition coming from current assistant coach Courtney Boucher in 2015.
