The Gustavus women’s tennis team will take part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional this weekend which is being hosted by Luther College. Due to weather conditions, the tournament will be played at three locations including Owatonna Tennis Club, St. Mary’s University (Winona), and Luther College.

Women’s Tennis Opens Fall Season at Drake Invitational

The Gustavus women’s tennis team opened its fall season at the seven team Drake Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa. In singles play, senior Jamie Gaard advanced to the quarterfinals, while in doubles play the duo of Lauren Hom and Sierra Krebsbach finished second. The Gusties were the only non-scholarship program in the tournament.

Gustavus Adolphus senior women’s tennis player Tara Houlihan (Sioux Falls, S.D.) has been named the 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Senior Player of the Year for the NCAA Division III Central Region. Houlihan is the second consecutive Gustie to receive the honor. Kara Smiley captured the award last season.
