Softball 50th Season Celebration Set For Sunday

A staple of the women’s athletic movement during the 1960s, softball at Gustavus was recognized as a varsity sport in 1969 after previously competing on an intramural basis. Over the past 49 years, Gustavus softball has compiled an all-time record of 835-521-4 and a mark of 514-223-3 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, including three league championships. The Gusties have earned a place in the NCAA Division III Tournament four times, which includes a third place finish in 2009.

Softball Splits With Macalester

After dropping game one Thursday night at the Augsburg Dome, the Gustavus softball team shut out Macalester in game two to salvage a split. The Gusties move to 7-15 overall and 3-5 in the MIAC, while the Scots move to 9-19 overall and 3-7 in the league.

Softball Sweeps Concordia For First Conference Victories

The Gustavus softball team picked up its first wins in conference play Tuesday, sweeping Concordia 7-1 and 5-3. Ashley Neuenfeldt (Fy., Bloomington, Minn.) won both games in the circle, going the distance in game one and four innings in the night cap.

Softball Schedule Adjustments For Remaining Games

The Gustavus softball team's home MIAC doubleheader vs. St. Catherine on Wednesday has been postponed to Monday, April 23. Game one will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Hollingsworth Field.

Gustie Spring Sports Forced To Adjust Schedules

As the winter weather in Minnesota continues its unrelenting pressure into mid-April, spring sports teams at Gustavus have been forced to make a number of changes to events originally scheduled for Saturday, April 14.

Softball Falls Twice At St. Thomas

The Gustavus softball team suffered its second straight sweep Thursday at St. Thomas, losing 9-1 and 12-6. The losses drop the Gusties to 4-14 overall and 0-4 in the MIAC, while the Tommies improve to 17-5 overall and 7-1 in the league.

Softball Swept By Saint Ben’s In Home Opener

The Gustavus softball team was swept in its home opener, losing 5-0 and 8-2 to Saint Benedict on Wednesday at Hollingsworth Field. The losses drop the Gusties to 4-12 overall and 0-2 in the MIAC, while the Blazers improve to 15-5 overall and 2-2 in the league.

More Schedule Changes Ahead For Softball, 50th Season Celebration Now April 22

As Old Man Winter continues to rear his ugly head, the Gustavus softball team is forced to reevaluate its upcoming schedule. Sunday’s home doubleheader against Macalester has been moved to the Dundas Dome in Dundas, Minn. beginning at 11 a.m. The softball program was also set to celebrate its 50th season on Sunday with a family, friends, and alumni gathering between games, but that has been moved to April 22.

Weekend Softball Games Postponed

This weekend's Gustavus softball home games have been postponed. Saturday's MIAC doubleheader against St. Olaf has been moved to April 24 and Sunday's MIAC doubleheader against Saint Benedict has been postponed to Wednesday, which will be played on the football field.

Softball Schedule Changes Due To Weather

The Gustavus softball schedule has been adjusted due to the cold weather and recent snowfall in northern Minnesota. Monday's home opener against Bethany Lutheran has been postponed to May 1. Also, next Wednesday's MIAC doubleheader at Concordia has been postponed to April 10.
