The Gustavus men's and women's track & field squads officialy opened the 2018 indoor season Friday at "The Opener" at the University of St. Thomas, turning in several strong finishes on each side.

Gustavus Set To Induct Nine New Members Into Athletics Hall Of Fame

The Gustavus Adolphus College Athletics Department has chosen nine individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2017 inductees include Brian Bergstrom ’02 (Football), Ryan Britz ’00 (Football), Sarah Garrison Moe ’02 (Hockey), Alicia Golembeski ’02 (Golf), Chad Gustafson ’01 (Golf), Brad Mazer ’02 (Baseball), Brenda Magoba ’97 (Track & Field), Rauha Rahkola ’97 (Cross Country/Track & Field), and Jerry Connolly (Coach). This group will be honored at the Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, which will be held in Alumni Hall on Saturday, Sept. 23, following the Homecoming football game against Hamline at 1 p.m.

63 Gusties Recognized As MIAC Winter-Spring Academic All-Conference

Student-athletes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) continue to achieve in both athletics and the classroom. For the second consecutive year, the MIAC has recognized more than 1,000 student-athletes with Academic All-Conference honors.

Carston Dammann Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Teams were released Thursday and Gustavus senior Carston Dammann (Lake City, Minn.) was named to the 15-member Second Team. The CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Brenden Huber Named Head Cross Country Coach

The Gustavus cross country and track & field programs will see a shift in coaching responsibilities, Athletics Director Tom Brown announced today. Brenden Huber, who has been the lead assistant for the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams the past eight years, has been promoted to head men’s and women’s cross country coach. Dale Bahr, head coach for both the cross country and track & field programs the past eight years, will now focus his attention solely on the men’s and women’s track & field teams. Huber will remain as the lead assistant for the track & field program.

Hensch, Schulz Named May Student-Athletes Of The Month

Men’s field specialist Michael Hensch (So., North Branch, Minn.) and women's tennis player Michaela Schulz (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College May Male and Female Student-Athletes-of-the-Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Hensch Takes 17th In Javelin At NCAA Championships

Gustavus men’s throwing specialist Michael Hensch (So., North Branch, Minn.) took 17th place in the javelin Thursday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Hensch’s throw registered at 182-10. Seth Nonnenmacher, a junior from George Fox, won the event with a heave of 227-1 setting a new stadium record at the SPIRE Institute.

Carston Dammann Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Team

The 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Teams were released Thursday and Gustavus senior Carston Dammann (Lake City, Minn.) was named to the 10-member District 6 Team, which features student-athletes from Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Hensch, ReMine, Morgan Named USTFCCCA Outdoor Track & Field All-Region

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the All-Region honorees for the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season and three Gusties earned four awards in the Central Region – Michael Hensch (So., North Branch, Minn.) in the hammer throw and javelin, Ed ReMine (Sr., Mantorville, Minn.) in the 400-meter hurdles, and Marisa Morgan (Jr., Rockford, Ill.) in the javelin. Hensch makes his second consecutive appearance on the All-Region Team, while ReMine and Morgan are newcomers to the recognition.
