Men & Women’s Swimming Lead at the MIAC Championships

Gustavus Adolphus College took the first-day lead in both the men's and women's team race at the 2004 MIAC Championships, contested at the University of Minnesota's Aquatics Center. The women have recorded 241 points and the men have recorded 256 points.

The MIAC recently released the top times up to Feb. 4 in individual and relay races. The Gustie men and women hold the top times in six individual events. The men and women's team also hold the top times in eight relay races.

Mike Maynard named MIAC Swimmer of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College senior, Mike Maynard (Saint Paul, MN), was named the MIAC Swimmer of the Week for January 26-February 1. Maynard won both the 100 and 200 backstroke to help lead the Gusties past Saint John's on Saturday, January 31.

Freshman sprinter Scott Hagemeyer and junior butterfly specialist were double winners while shattering pool records as Gustavus swam past Saint John's 176-124 at the Lund Center Natatorium in Saint Peter.

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team defeated Carleton 217-71 in Northfield on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties won 14 of the 16 events in the meet.

The Gustavus men's swimming team lost a very competitive dual meet to St. Olaf 134-109 at the Lund Center Natatorium in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties did manage to win five events and set two pool records.
