Men’s Hockey Earns 3-1 Victory In Conference Opener At St. Olaf

The Gustavus men's hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period en route to defeating St. Olaf College 3-1 to earn the first win of the season during the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener Friday evening.

The Gustavus men’s hockey team opens its 2017-18 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Schedule this weekend with a series against St. Olaf College. The Oles (1-1, 0-0 MIAC) host the Gusties (0-1-1, 0-0 MIAC) in Northfield at 7:30 p.m. Friday prior to the Gusties home opener Saturday evening at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Men’s Hockey Ties Hamline 4-4, Wins Eight-Round Shootout In Season Finale

Regulation wasn’t enough time to finish the season at Don Roberts Ice Rink and neither was overtime as the Gustavus men’s hockey team concluded its season with a thrilling eight-round shootout victory over Hamline Saturday on Senior Night. Hamline erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to tie the game 4-4, and neither team scored in the overtime, but the Gusties would have the last laugh as Erik Johnson (Sr., Sauk Rapids, Minn.) ended his career by denying six shots in the shootout, skating off the ice a winner for the final time.

Men’s Hockey Wins Third Straight 3-1 Over Hamline

The Gustavus men’s hockey team won its third straight game Friday in a 3-1 decision over Hamline. Isaak Tjaden (Jr., Northfield, Minn.) picked up his first collegiate victory in net after making a career-high 37 saves as the Gusties improve to 5-15-4 overall and 4-10-1 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Even with the loss, Hamline clinched a playoff berth by virtue of a Saint John’s loss but is battling to stay out of the No. 4-5 play-in game with a 7-5-3 league record (10-9-5 overall).

Men’s Hockey Concludes Season With Series Against Hamline

The Gustavus men’s hockey team is set to take on Hamline in its final Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series of the season this weekend. Friday’s game in St. Paul begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday’s game in St. Peter starts at 7:05 p.m. The Gusties enter the series 4-15-4 overall and 3-10-1 in the MIAC after sweeping Bethel last weekend, while the Pipers are 10-8-5 overall and 7-4-3 in the league after tying with Augsburg twice and winning both shootouts.

Teddy Bears Go Flying As Men’s Hockey Shuts Out Bethel 3-0 For Series Sweep

The Gustavus men’s hockey team completed the series sweep over Bethel Saturday at Don Roberts Ice Rink with a 3-0 shutout victory. The win marks the first shutout for the Gusties in two seasons and first sweep since Feb. 2014. Gustavus improves to 4-15-4 overall and 3-10-1 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Royals drop to 2-19-2 overall and 1-11-2 in the league.
