Tony Konicek Repeats on ABCA All-America First Team; Tabbed Region Player of the Year by Writers

For the second consecutive season, Gustavus Adolphus College third baseman Tony Konicek has been named to the NCAA Division III All-America First Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Konicek, who hit .452 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI, was also honored as the Midwest Region Position Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Tony Konicek Named to D3baseball.com All-America Second Team

Gustavus Adolphus College third baseman Tony Konicek, a three-time All-MIAC selection and two-time MIAC Most Valuable Player, has been named to the D3baseball.com All-America Second Team. Konicek hit .452 with 56 hits, 38 runs scored, 15 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs and 55 RBI in 36 games this season. He also led Division III with an .895 slugging percentage.

Gustavus Adolphus College baseball players Tony Konicek and Mike DesLauriers have been named All-Midwest Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Konicek, a three-time All-MIAC selection and two-time MIAC Most Valuable Player, was named to the first team, while DesLauriers picked up third team honors.

Four Named All-MIAC in Baseball, Konicek Repeats as MVP

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team had its entire starting infield recognized Monday as this year's All-MIAC selections were released by the league office. Senior third baseman Tony Konicek, a three-time All-MIAC selection, was named the league's MVP for the second straight year by a vote of the league's coaches. Also recognized were first baseman Pat Siering, shortstop Mike DesLauriers, and second baseman Nate Ruff.

Baseball Set to Compete in MIAC Post-Season Tournament

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team is the #4 seed in the four-team MIAC Post-season tournament, which will take place at both Sechler Park in Northfield and Memorial Park in Dundas this Friday-Sunday. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Gusties will open tournament play on Friday against St. Thomas, the tournament's top seed, Friday at Memorial Park in Dundas. Game time is 3:30 p.m.

Baseball Drops Pair at MIAC Tournament, Ends Season at 21-15

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team closed out its season Friday with a pair of losses at the MIAC Baseball Tournament in Dundas and Northfield. Gustavus, the fourth seed, fell to top-seeded St. Thomas 9-3 and then dropped a 4-3 decision to Saint John's in an elimination game Friday evening. The Gusties finish the year at 21-15 overall and took fourth in the MIAC with a 14-6 mark.

Baseball Drops Pair to St. Olaf 12-11, 9-5

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team ended its regular season Monday by dropping both ends of a doubleheader to St. Olaf. The Oles took game one 12-11 despite two home runs from Gustavus senior Tony Konicek and then got nine runs in the first two innings and a complete game on the mound from Andy Dimick to take game two 9-5. Gustavus returns to the field Friday at the MIAC Tournament in Northfield with a first-round game against St. Thomas.

Baseball Clinches MIAC Playoff Berth With Sweep of Carleton

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team locked up a spot in next weekend's MIAC Post-season Tournament with a doubleheader sweep of Carleton Wednesday in Northfield. Gustavus posted a 10-0 win in game one behind four RBIs by Tony Konicek and held off a Carleton rally after scoring seven runs in the first inning to take game two 10-8. Gustavus hosts league-leader St. Olaf Saturday.

Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Bethany Lutheran 9-3, 8-11

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team stepped out of MIAC play Sunday and picked up a doubleheader split with Bethany Lutheran College. The Gusties took game one 9-3, while the Vikings rode Jimmy Olson's two home runs and six RBIs to an 11-8 win in game two. Gustavus (19-11) will face Carleton in Northfield Wednesday afternoon.

Baseball Splits With Bethel; Bethany Lutheran Doubleheader Moved to Sunday

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team picked up a doubleheader split with Bethel Saturday, inching closer to clinching a spot in the MIAC Playoffs. The teams combined with 69 hits and 19 extra-base hits between the two games. Pat Siering went 6-for-6 with five runs scored, five RBIs, and a pair of home runs to lead the Gusties. Also, Gustavus' doubleheader with Bethany Lutheran originally scheduled for Monday has been pushed up to Sunday at 1 p.m. in St. Peter.
