The Gustavus Adolphus baseball team will participate in the MIAC Post-Season Baseball Tournament May 11-13.

The Gustavus Adolphus baseball team will participate in the MIAC Post-Season Baseball Tournament May 11-13.

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team is the #4 seed in the four-team MIAC Post-season tournament, which will take place at both Sechler Park in Northfield and Memorial Park in Dundas this Friday-Sunday, May 11-13. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Gusties will open tournament play on Friday against St. Thomas, the tournament’s top seed, Friday at Memorial Park in Dundas. Game time is 3:30 p.m.

Gustavus finished the regular season with a record of 21-13 overall and 14-6 in the MIAC. The Gusties finished fourth behind league co-champions St. Thomas (28-9, 16-4 MIAC) and St. Olaf (29-6, 16-4 MIAC) and third-place finisher Saint John’s (22-14, 15-5 MIAC). Coach Mike Carroll’s squad posted a record of 2-4 against the three other teams in the tournament including an 0-2 mark against #2 seed St. Olaf (11-12, 5-9) and doubleheader splits against #1 seed St. Thomas (2-3, 6-3) and #3 seed Saint John’s (9-2, 3-5).

Gustavus is making its fourth appearance in the MIAC Baseball Playoffs in the eight-year history of the event. The Gusties are 3-5 in three previous appearances (2002, 2004, 2006), finishing runner-up in 2004.

First and second round games on Friday will be played at both Sechler Park in Northfield and Memorial Park in Dundas. Games on Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) will be played at Dundas. The schedule is listed below:
