Helland Has Big First Day At NCAA Track and Field Championships

Janey Helland finished fifth in the long jump and sits in third place in the heptathlon after the first day of the NCAA Track and Field Championships, which are being held at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

Helland, Broderius, and Voss Selected To Compete in NCAA Track and Field Meet

Gustavus Adolphus College senior women's track and field competitors Janey Helland, Sam Broderius and Allyson Voss have been selected to participate in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Helland will compete in the long jump and heptathlon, while Broderius will compete in the discus and Voss in the pole vault.

Sports Information Director Tim Kennedy Accepts New Role As Assistant Vice President

Tim Kennedy, a 1982 graduate of Gustavus, who has served as the Sports Information at the College for the past 25 years has accepted the position of Assistant Vice President and Director of Multimedia Innovation in the division of Marketing and Communication. Taking up the post June 1, 2011, Kennedy will serve as the College's key communication strategist with the offices of Admission and Advancement, promoting the College's academic excellence and distinctive attributes to key constituents.

Football Team Set To Leave For Service Trip To Mexico

The Gustavus football team will be traveling to Cancun, Mexico for a five-day trip that will combine football, service, and some fun. The team will depart Wednesday, May 25 and return Monday, May 30. The trip will include several clinics, an exhibition game, a service trip to an orphanage, and a sightseeing trip to Isla de Mujeres.

Women’s Track and Field Finishes Second at MIAC Championships

The Gustavus women's track and field team made a strong run at its first ever MIAC Track and Field title on Saturday, but St. Thomas was just too strong down the stretch and the Tommies (143.5) edged the Gusties (132.5) by 11 points to claim their seventh consecutive MIAC outdoor title and the 27th title in the program's history.

Men’s Track and Field Posts Strong Third Place Finish At MIAC Championships

The Gustavus men's track and field team delighted the home fans with a strong third place finish at the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which were held at the Gustavus Track and Field Complex on Friday and Saturday. Blair Riegl sparked the Gusties with an outstanding all-around performance as he won the long jump and 100 meter dash, while also finishing fourth in the triple jump, sixth in the 200 meter dash and participating on the 4 x 100 meter relay that placed second.

Women’s Tennis Advances To Region Final With 5-1 Win Over UW-Whitewater

The Gustavus women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Midwest Region Final for the 20th consecutive year with a 5-1 win over UW-Whitewater at Bally's Indoor Tennis Center in Chicago on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties will now face host University of Chicago for the right to advance to the NCAA Team Finals, which will take place on May 24-26 in Claremont, California.

The Gustavus men's tennis team put forth a valiant effort against Trinity University in the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday, but it wasn't quite enough as the 11th ranked Tigers slipped past the Gusties 5-3 in front of a boisterous home crowd of nearly 300 at the Swanson Tennis Center.

Men’s Tennis Advances In NCAA Tourney With 5-0 Win Over Concordia

The Gustavus men's tennis team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Regional with a 5-0 win over Concordia University of Mequon, Wisconsin on a cold and blustery Friday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties will now face Trinity University of San Antonio, Texas on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm.

Weather Halts NCAA Women’s Golf Championship, Gusties Place Second

Severe weather forced the cancellation of Friday’s final round at the 2011 NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championships held at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. Gustavus ended up finishing second for the second consecutive year to Methodist College. Individually, Katie Schenfeld finished in a tie for third place, while Rikka Holiday finished in a tie for sixth place.
