Merila Named Judy Kruckman Women’s Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete

MADISON, Wis.-- Brooke Merila of Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) has been selected recipient of the 2022 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women’s Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete Award.

Baseball Opens Season in Kansas

TOPEKA, Kansas - The Gustavus baseball team opened its season yesterday in Topeka. The Gusties fell to Luther in doubleheader losses 10-9 and 12-8. Gustavus won on Sunday against Simpson 14-10 before their second game was called due to weather. More detailed recap to follow.

Gymnastics Takes Seventh at WIAC/NCGA West Regional

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Gustavus gymnastics team took seventh place at the WIAC/NCGA West Regional on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater accumulating a total of 184.800 – the highest mark of the season. UW-Oshkosh won the meet with a 192.300. Additionally, senior Brooke Merila received the WIAC Judy Kruckman Women’s Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete Award.

Gusties use Doubles Sweep to Soar Past Warhawks

SAINT PETER, Minn. -Last fall the Wisconsin-Whitewater Men’s Tennis Team came to Saint Peter for ITA Regionals and left with hardware and a wealth of quality wins at the expense of a number of Gusties. The tables turned on Saturday afternoon at Swanson Tennis Center. With a packed crowd in the house, the Golden Gusties played their best tennis when it mattered most, defeating regional powerhouse Wisconsin-Whitewater 7-2. 

Four Gusties Garner MIAC Honors for Men’s Basketball

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its men’s basketball postseason awards Monday and four Gustavus student-athletes received recognition. Kaleb Feahn (Sr., Waseca) was named to first-team All-Conference, Nolan Malo (Sr., Owatonna) was named to second-team, Spencer Swanson (Fy., Waconia) received All-First-Year honors, and Pete Lundquist (Sr., Rochester) eared Honorable Mention. 

Gusties Drop Final Indoors Match to Defending National Champions

Finishing a weekend with the nation’s best, the Gusties dropped a 5-0 contest to defending national champion Emory on Sunday morning. 

Men’s Tennis Falls 6-3 to Brandeis in ITA National Championships, Tops Northwestern at Home 9-0

Men’s Hockey Drops Heartbreaker in OT to No. 4 Augsburg in MIAC Quarterfinals

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - After going goal-for-goal against the No. 4 nationally ranked Auggies, the Gustavus men's hockey team fell in overtime 4-3 in the MIAC Championship Quarterfinals. With the loss, the Gusties end the 2021-22 season 6-16-4 overall.

Gymnastics Breaks School Record on Vault Against UW-Oshkosh

SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus gymnastics team hosted UW-Oshkosh on Saturday afternoon while honoring its seniors, Brooke Merila (Sr., St. Michael), Sophie Redding (Sr., Saint Paul), and Lauren Smith (Sr., Mangatangi, New Zealand). The Gusties set a new team record on vault and scored 182.40 overall to the Titans 188.800
