Women’s Nordic Skiing Competes at Central Super Tour Races

The Gustavus women’s nordic ski team compiled 60 points to take seventh place among competing Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) colleges at the Central Super Tour races held at Theodore Wirth Park Friday and Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn. Erica Hett was the top Gustavus skier, finishing 27th (14:50.1) among college skiers in Saturday’s 5km freestyle race and 15th (32:36.2) on Sunday in the 10km classic.

Brabbit Leads Men’s Nordic Skiing At Central Super Tour

Junior Jen’s Brabbit led the Gustavus Adolphus men’s nordic ski team at the Central Super Tour races held at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis, Minn. on Friday and Saturday. Brabbit finished fifth (24.06.3) place among competing college skiers in Saturday’s 10km freestyle race and sixth place (38.43.3) in Sunday’s 15km classic. Gustavus finished fifth overall among competing Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) colleges with 90 points.

Men’s Swimming & Diving Takes Fifth At UW-Stevens Point Invitational

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team finished in fifth place at the two-day UW-Stevens Point Invitational Friday and Saturday in Stevens Point, Wisc. Skylar Davis registered the only two Gustavus wins by taking the 500 (4:44.70) and 1650 freestyle (16:31.52). Finishing second behind Skylar in both races was Whitaker Davis with times of 4:46.58 (500 free) and 16:42.82 (1650 free).

Women’s Swimming & Diving Places Eighth At UW-Stevens Point Invitational

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team compiled 219 points and finished in eighth place at the two-day UW-Stevens Point Invitational Friday and Saturday in Stevens Point, Wisc. Carrie Gundersen was the top Gustavus swimmer with wins in the 500 (5:12.01) and 1650 (17:48.65) freestyle races. UW-Stevens Point won the meet with 799 points, while UW-Eau Claire finished second with 763.5 points, and Hillsdale College finished third with 521 points.

Van Sickle Scores 21 Points As Men’s Basketball Defeats Concordia 79-72

Senior Jesse Van Sickle scored 21 points for the second time this season to lead the Gustavus men's basketball team to a 79-72 victory over Concordia Saturday afternoon in Moorhead, Minn. Van Sickle shot 6-for-8 from the field while going 4-for-6 from behind the arc in the game. Four other Gustavus players scored in double figures as Ryan McPartland had 13 points, Dan Schmidtknect and Tyler Grey both scored 11, while Phil Wirtjes scored 10. Concordia's Darrin Olmscheid scored a game-high 29 points on 8-for-21 shooting.

Strong First Period Gives Women’s Hockey 4-0 Win Over Saint Benedict

The Gustavus women's hockey team scored three first period goals on it's way to a 4-0 win over Saint Benedict Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. Freshman Lindsey Hjelm scored two of the three first period goals, while assisting on the lone second period goal by Alyssa Saunders, giving her a total of three points on the day. With the win, Gustavus completes the weekend sweep, gaining four points and moving to 8-3-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the MIAC.

Poor Shooting Sinks Men’s Basketball In 60-55 Loss To Carleton

The Gustavus men's basketball team suffered a heart-breaking loss to Carleton 60-55 on Gus Young Court Monday night. Carleton's Seth Jonker scored a game-high 17 points while shooting 7-14 from the field. The Gusties shot 38.5% from the field and a cold 12.5% from behind the arc. Carleton shot 48.9% from the field and 33.3% from three point range.

MIAC Names Emily Klatt Women’s Hockey Player Of The Week

Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore goaltender Emily Klatt (Woodbury, Minn.) has been named MIAC Women's Hockey Player of the Week. Klatt helped the Gusties go 2-0 last week with a 2-1 upset victory over #5 UW-River Falls on Tuesday night, and a 1-0 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon. Klatt gave up one goal and made 30 saves while playing a total of 90 minutes on the week.

Maggie Hansvick Named MIAC Women’s Swimmer Of The Week

Gustavus Adolphus College senior Maggie Hansvick (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) was named MIAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Co-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in Friday night’s 160-140 win over Carleton in St. Peter, Minn. Hansvick recorded two wins and one second place finish in the meet.

Men’s Basketball Gets Back On Track With 76-65 Win Over Saint John’s

The Gustavus men's basketball team got back on the winning track with a 76-65 victory over Saint John's Monday night in Collegeville, Minn. Four Gustavus players scored in double-digits as Phil Wirtjes and Ryan McPartland led the team with 15 points each. Saint John's Sam Blank scored a game-high 18 points while shooting 6-8 from behind the arch.
