Gustavus Women’s Swimming & Diving Finishes Eighth, Men’s Swimming & Diving Finishes 23rd At 2010 NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team compiled 114 points to finish in eighth place, while the men's swimming and diving team scored 23 points and finished 23rd at the 2010 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships held in the Aquatics Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota on Saturday.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Complete Day Three Of Competition At NCAA Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s swimming and diving team has compiled 83 team points after three days of competition at the 2010 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships being held in the Aquatics Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Skylar and Whitaker Davis of the men’s squad have scored nine points for the Gusties and currently rank 40th entering the final day of competition.

11 Gustavus Swimmers Qualify For 2010 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

A total of 11 (9 women, 2 men) Gustavus swimmers qualified for the 2010 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Monday afternoon. Representing the women’s team will be Jonna Berry, Serena Elthon, Carrie Gundersen, Anika Erickson, Sarah Hund, Steph Korba, Carley Mosher, Dajana Vidovic, and Maggie Hansvick. Skylar and Whitaker Davis will represent the men’s squad. The NCAA Championships will take place on March 17-20, in the Aquatics Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Baseball Opens Season With Split Against UW-Oshkosh

The 2010 Gustavus baseball team opened the season in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome with a series split with UW-Oshkosh on Sunday evening. The Gusties dropped game one to the Titans 10-9 in extra innings, but came back to win the second game of the doubleheader 2-1. Gustavus is now 1-1 on the season, while UW-Oshkosh moves to 3-3.

Jens Brabbit Returns From Competition At the 2010 NCAA Skiing Championships

Gustavus Adolphus junior Jens Brabbit returned home to Minnesota after competing at the 2010 NCAA Skiing Championships held March 10-13, in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Brabbit completed the most successful season ever had by a Gustavus male skier with a 34th place finish in the 10km classic race on Thursday, finishing with a time of 31:57.6, and a 39th place finish in the 20km freestyle on Saturday with a time of 55:09.5.

Max Hanson Places Fifth In 800-Meter Run At 2010 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

Gustavus Adolphus senior Max Hanson had the top Gustavus finish at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held this weekend at the James A. Hollensteiner Track on the campus of DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. Hanson took first place in his qualifying heat with time of 1:53.87, and later placed fifth in the finals of the race with a time of 1:53.19. Senior Kaelene Lundstrum, the 2010 MIAC Field Athlete of the Meet, finished in eighth place in both the pentathlon (3308) and high jump (5' 5.25").

Women’s Tennis Defeats UW-Whitewater 7-2, Saint Catherine University 9-0, And The University of Sioux Falls 7-2

The Gustavus women's tennis team went an undefeated 3-0 on Saturday with a pair of 7-2 victories over non-conference opponents UW-Whitewater and the University of Sioux Falls in the Swanson Tennis Center, and a 9-0 road win over MIAC opponent Saint Catherine University in Lakeville, Minn. The Gusties move to 13-7 overall and remain undefeated in conference play with a record of 3-0.

Mackley, Hjelm, Peterson, And Schwab Named To Women’s Hockey All-Conference Team

Four members of the Gustavus women’s hockey team were named to the 2010 All-Conference Team by the league coaches this past week. First year Lindsey Hjelm (North Oaks, Minn.), senior Melissa Mackley (Burnsville, Minn.), junior Kirstin Peterson (St. Paul, Minn.), and sophomore Allie Schwab (Stillwater, Minn.) were bestowed All-Conference Team honors.

Baseball Set To Open 2010 Season Against UW-Oshkosh On Sunday

The Gustavus Adolphus baseball team will open the 2010 season on Sunday, March 14, against UW-Oshkosh, in a double-header beginning at 6:00pm in the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn.
