Women’s Track & Field Places Sixth At Falcon Invitational

The Gustavus women's track and field team compiled 69 points to finish sixth out of 18 teams at the Falcon Invitational held in River Falls, Wis. Janney Helland had an outstanding meet, taking first place in two events and adding an 11th place finish in another.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Finishes 11th At Falcon Invitational

The Gustavus men’s track and field team compiled a two-day total of 44 points to finish in 11th place out of 18 competing schools. Blair Riegel led the Gusties with three top-10 finishes, taking third in the long jump, eighth in the 100-meter dash, and ninth in the 200-meter dash.

Women’s Tennis Finishes Fourth At Midwest Invitational

The Gustavus women’s tennis team suffered two defeats in the final day of competition to finish fourth at the Midwest Invitational held April 8-9 in Madison, Wis. The Gusties lost 7-2 to Dension University in the semifinals, then fell 5-4 in to Washington University (Mo.) in the third place match.

The Gustavus softball team defeated St. Catherine 5-3 in game one, as game two was suspended due to darkness tied 6-6 in the sixth inning. Kate Rentschler got the win on the hill, while Lisa Klass drove in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning.

The Gustavus women’s tennis team is set to compete in the 2011 Midwest Invitational held at the Nielson Tennis Stadium and Cherokee Country Club both located in Madison, Wis. on April 8-9.

Men’s And Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Competes At Wartburg Select

Select members of the Gustavus men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams took part in the Wartburg Select track meet in Waverly, Iowa over the weekend. The women’s squad finished 10th out of 15 teams with 36.50 points, while the men placed ninth out of 13 teams with 26.50 points.

Softball Splits With UW-La Crosse

The Gustavus softball team defeated UW-La Crosse 4-2 in game one, yet fell 5-3 in game two on Saturday in St. Peter, Minn. Jen Ulmen hit a walk-off home run in game one, while Kate Rentschler was credited with both decisions on the hill for the Gusties.

Women’s Tennis Concludes FAB 10 Tournament With 7-2 Loss To Williams

The Gustavus women’s tennis team suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of #2 Williams College in its final match of the 2011 FAB 10 Tournament held on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta. The Gusties move to 9-7 overall on the season.
