SAINT PETER, Minn. — MIAC All-Conference and All-Playoff selections Anna Sanders (Sr., Vadnais Heights) and Kylie Baranick (So., Maple Grove) picked up two more postseason honors, landing themselves on the D3hoops.com All-Region list. Sanders and Baranick were both named Region 9 Third-Team, the site announced Tuesday.

Sanders finished her Gustavus career with a season to remember, leading the MIAC’s top team in scoring. Sanders capped off the year averaging 12.9 ppg and shooting 44.3% from the field, including a 44.7% mark from behind the 3-point arc, good for first in the MIAC and second in all of DIII women’s basketball. Sanders’ efforts this season earned her a spot in the program record books six different times, highlighted by the most 3-pointers by a single player in a season at 67.

Baranick was another key element of the Gustie offense, especially in their playoff run, averaging 16.5 ppg in the Gusties’ four postseason appearances. Starting in all 29 of the Gusties’ games, Baranick averaged 11 ppg overall, leading the team in assists with 112, good for seventh in program history for assists in a season. Baranick broke her career-high in points in a game twice this season and tallied double-digit points 19 times this year. Her assist/turnover ratio of 3.11 finished seventh in NCAA DIII.

There were 798 players nominated nationwide by Sports Information Directors for the honor. Following voting from various SIDs and other conference personnel, three All-Region teams were announced for each of the 10 regions, with an Outstanding Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year named for each region, as well. Players earning All-Region honors are eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America teams, which will be announced later this month.
