Women’s Golf in Ninth After First Round at Saint Ben’s

The Gustavus women’s golf team is in ninth place out of 13 teams after the first round of the Saint Benedict Invite. The Gusties carded a 348 (+60) at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course.

SARTELL, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team is in ninth place out of 13 teams after the first round of the Saint Benedict Invite. The Gusties carded a 348 (+60) at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course. Carleton leads the field witha 314.

Laurel Ward (Sr., Bozeman, Mont.), Annika Reierson (Jr., Delano), and Emily Kolb (Fy., Sioux Falls, S.D.) lead the Gusties, all tied for 29th with an 86. Reierson had two birdies during the round, while Ward and Kolb had one each. Kristin Martens (Sr., Sartell) is tied for 48th at 90 and Hannah Hubbart (Sr., Hastings) is tied for 59th at 92.

“Not the start we were hoping for today, but we learned a lot about what we need to do moving forward,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “We got ahead of ourselves and brought trouble into play that should have been in play. We look forward to taking some steps ahead tomorrow and leaving the golf course knowing we did a much better job of capitalizing on our good shots and minimizing the damage from bad shots.”
