Track & Field Sets School Records at UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier

A select group from Gustavus track & field competed Thursday at the UW-La Cross Final Qualifier with hopes of improving times and marks in order to qualify for next week’s NCAA Outdoor Championships.

LA CROSSE, Wis. – A select group from Gustavus track & field competed Thursday at the UW-La Cross Final Qualifier with hopes of improving times and marks in order to qualify for next week’s NCAA Outdoor Championships.

The women’s 4×100 relay was a highlight of the day, setting the school record with a time of 48.17. The team of Kate Carlson, Megan Geraets, Danielle Miller, and Birgen Nelson finished the race in fourth place. Madi Kes also set a school record with a leap of 38-9 in the triple jump, finishing in fourth place. Kes’ mark ranks 25th in Division III.

Josh Bieswanger highlighted the Gustie men by winning the hammer throw with a toss of 181-5 on his sixth and final attempt. Bieswanger currently sits in 23rd place in Division III.

Ally Rakow and Sydney Hauger raced the 100-meter taking fifth and sixth, respectively, in 13.23 and 13.36. Seth Zeitchick and Jack Wissenberger ran the men’s 100-meter and took 14th and 21st, respectively, in 11.18 and 12.15.

The men’s 4×100 relay team of Dylan Gast, Wyatt Quiring, Zeitchick, and Jared Hecht finished third in 42.63. Quring also ran the 400-meter in 48.49, taking sixth place. Sam Schultze ran the 400-hurdles in 57.59, taking fourth place.

In the men’s long jump, Isaiah Subah cleared 22-7.75, finishing in eighth place.

The 2022 Division III men’s and women’s outdoor track & field championship selections will be announced Friday, May 20 in a press release on NCAA.com. The 2022 DIII outdoor track & field championships are from May 26-28 at SPIRE Institute in Geneve, Ohio.
