WAVERLY, Iowa. – The Gustavus women’s golf team finished day two of the Wartburg Fall Invite etching their names into the record book after carding 604 on 36 holes, surpassing the 2008 record by one stroke. Additionally, Sydney Regalado (Sr., Rosemount) carded an ace on the fourteenth hole. The Gusties placed in fourth out of 16 teams, with St. Catherine winning the tournament with a final score of of 586.
“What a fantastic weekend for the women golfers,” said Coach Randall Stuckey. “It’s always interesting to see how teams follow up a strong performance, so after our second lowest round in Gustavus women’s golf history, we followed up with a 305 today which gave the gals the lowest 36 hole score total in women’s golf history. Couldn’t be prouder and happier for the team. We’ve had high expectations for them for a long time and they finally showed what they can do. The biggest highlight of the day was the hole in one by Sydney Regalado on hole number 14.”
Emily Kratz (Sr., Edina) led off for the Gusties shooting 76-73-149 tying in 12th overall, followed by Laurel Ward (Jr., Bozeman, Mont.) who shot 72-78-150 to finish in 17th.
Regalado’s hole-in-one gave her an 18th place finish with marks of 75-77-152, and Erin Ericson (Sr., Onalaska, Wis.) carded 76-77-153 finishing 22nd. Annika Reierson (So., Delano) shot 77-79-156, Hannah Hubbart (Jr., Hastings) carded 77-79-156, and Kristin Martens (Jr., Sartell) shot 79-83-162 to round out the Gustie lineup.
