MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – After day two of the MIAC Championships, the Gustavus men’s swim & dive team maintains its lead with 337 points, while the women are just one point behind St. Kate’s, 244-243.
Five Gustie men earned All-Conference honors during Thursday night’s finals session, highlighted by a first-second-third finish in the 200 IM by Nolan Larson (Jr., West Des Moines, Iowa) (1:50.98), Dane Hudson (Fy., Eden Prairie) (1:53.79), and Erik Small (Fy., Hudson, Wis.) (1:54.62). Matt Allison (Jr., Grand Rapids) won the conference title in the 50 free, touching the wall in 20.71, and Callen Zemek (Fy., Victoria) also earned All-MIAC honors by taking second in the 500 free with a time of 4:35.96.
The 400 medley relay team of Hudson, Farrque Hussein (So., Fridley), Larson, and Allison took second in 3:24.24.
Ellen Hofstede (Fy., Hopkins) earned All-Conference for the women with a second place finish in the 50 free, clocking a time of 23.87. Sophia Steinberg (Jr., Faribault) claimed All-MIAC in the 1-meter dive by taking second place, posting a NCAA A qualifying score of 412.85.
Hailey Auran (Jr., Saint Paul) took fifth in the 200 IM in 2:09.30, Allie Mayfield (Sr., Two Harbors) took sixth in the 500 free in 5:13.22, and the 400 medley relay team of Abby Yartz (Fy., Bemidji), Auran, Lillie Ortloff (So., Hutchinson), and Amelia Bjorklund (Jr., Bloomington) took fourth in 3:55.81.
Day three of the MIAC Championships begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday with prelims.
