Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Thursday announced its cross country academic awards and both the Gustavus men’s and women’s teams were recognized.

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Thursday announced its cross country academic awards and both the Gustavus men’s and women’s teams were recognized.

Both teams earned All-Academic Team honors and three individuals were named All-Academic Athletes. The Gustie men earned All-Academic with a 3.44 team GPA, while the women boasted a 3.66 GPA. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

All-Academic Athletes included Kourtney Kulseth (Jr., New Richland), Iliana Ramon (So., Fairmont), and Andrew Stumbo (Jr., Boone, Iowa). Kulseth is an environmental studies major, Ramon is an elementary education major, and Stumbo is a music education major. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
