SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s basketball team travels to Saint Mary’s on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. MIAC matchup. The Gusties enter the game 10-8 overall and 7-4 in the MIAC, while the Cardinals are 11-7 overall and 7-4 in the league.
SCOUTING THE GUSTIES
Gustavus has won its past three games, most recently defeating St. Olaf 78-60 on Wednesday. Through 18 games the Gusties average 66.9 points and allow 58.1 per game – ranking fourth and fifth in the MIAC. The Gusties distribute the ball well with 14.9 assists per game, which ranks fourth in the league. They turn the ball over the least in the MIAC, averaging 15.2 per game. Kendall Thompson leads the offense averaging 14.2 points. Thompson also leads the team in rebounding (5.7 per game) and steals (56). Justine Lee and Paige Richert are also strong contributors with 13.3 and 10.3 points per game, respectively.

Saint Mary’s won four of its past five games, most recently defeating Saint Benedict 66-60 on Wednesday. Through 18 games the Cardinals average 64.1 points and allow 61.9 per game, while shooting 39.4 percent from the floor. They are a strong rebounding team, averaging 41.4 per game which ranks second in the MIAC. Brandi Blattner leads the offense with 14.4 points along with a team-high 8.6 rebounds per game. Brooklyn Paulson also averages double figures with 11.4 points.
