WINONA, Minn. – The Gustavus gymnastics team won a WIAC dual Tuesday at Winona State by a score of 180.275-178.725. The Gusties also took first place in all four events as well as the all-around.

Gustavus scored 45.590 on vault, 45.900 on floor, 44.425 on bars, and 44.000 on beam.

Amanda Malo (Sr., Greenwood, Minn.) had the highest score of the meet on the floor, winning the event with a 9.400. She also took second on both the bars (9.250) and beam (9.025), and fifth on the vault (9.15) to win the all-around with a total of 36.825.

Sam Ardy (Sr., Thousand Oaks, Calif.) won the bars at 9.375 and the beam at 9.15. Sophia Redding (Fy., St. Paul, Minn.) took the podium on the vault at 9.300.

“It was an overall team effort but Sophie, Sam Tonjes, and Torrie [Aycock] were all huge for us on floor,” Head Coach Aryn DeGrood said. “We played around with the lineup and then stepped up and did great. The entire beam line up was incredible. They took the challenge we had them do on Monday at practice and made the necessary adjustments. They looked much more confident on there and did exactly what the team needed them to do to finish the meet.”

Gustavus next travels to UW-Whitewater on Saturday for a 4 p.m. meet.
