SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s basketball team travels to Carleton on Saturday for a 1 p.m. MIAC tipoff. The Gusties enter the series 6-6 overall and 3-2 in the MIAC, while the Knights are 3-9 overall and 0-5 in the league.

Saturday’s game marks the 77th meeting between Gustavus and Carleton with the Gusties leading the series 54-22. Gustavus has won the last 17 meetings, most recently defeating the Knights 92-49 on Jan. 31 of last season. Carleton’s last victory over the Gusties was Jan. 21, 2009.
SCOUTING THE GUSTIES
Gustavus is coming off a 77-55 loss to No. 3 St. Thomas on Wednesday night. Through 12 games the Gusties average 66.8 points and allow 59.6 points per game. They shoot 40.4 percent from the field and 28.5 percent from three-point range. Rebounding has been close with the Gusties holding a +0.2 margin over opponents but the Gusties are winning the turnover battle by a margin on +7.4 per game. Kendall Thompson leads the offense with 13.5 points per game. She also averaged a team-best 4.9 rebounds per game and has a team-high 44 steals. Justine Lee and Paige Richert average double figures as well with 13.3 and 10.7 points per game, respectively.

Carleton is currently on an eight-game losing streak, most recently falling 63-48 to St. Catherine on Wednesday. The Knights average 59.8 points and allow 71.8 points per game. Their strength is down on the blocks as they average 3.6 blocks (2nd/MIAC) and 42.5 rebounds (3rd/MIAC) per game. Cece Leone is the lone Knight to average double figures with 11.8 points per game. She also leads the team with 6.8 rebounds per game. Samantha Cooke and Nia Harris are next on the stat sheet, averaging 9.9 and 9.5 points, respectively.
