SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s basketball team starts a three-game home stand tonight as it takes on Macalester. The MIAC tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Gus Young Court. The Gusties enter the game 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the MIAC, while the Scots are 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the league.
THE SERIES
Tonight’s game marks the 75th all-time meeting between the Gustavus and Macalester women’s basketball programs with the Gusties leading the series 62-12. Last season the Gusties defeated the Scots 76-54 on Feb. 7 in St. Paul.
SCOUTING THE GUSTIES
Gustavus is looking to snap a three-game losing streak tonight after most recently falling 64-61 at Saint Benedict on Saturday. Through seven games, the Gusties average 68.7 points and allow 58.4 points per game. They shoot 41.5 percent from the field and 73.2 percent from the free throw line. Kendall Thompson leads the team with 13.1 points per game. Justine Lee and Paige Richert also average double figures with 11.9 and 11.0 points per game, respectively. Richert paces the team with 5.1 rebounds per game.

Under the direction of first-year coach Pamela Findlay, the Scots started the season with four consecutive losses but have split their last four games with a pair of victories. Macalester most recently lost to St. Olaf 78-64 on Saturday. The Scots average 56.6 points and allow 63.3 points per game through eight contests. They shoot 32.4 percent from the floor and have a -2.5 rebound margin. Justine Barraza leads the team with 12.9 points per game. Kayla Togneri averages a team-best 6.5 rebounds per game.
