GLOUCESTER, Mass. – The American Hockey Coaches Association (ACHA) recognized ice hockey players who attained a 3.6 GPA each semester and participated in 40 percent of their school’s games in the 2017-18 season as “Krampade All American Scholars.” A total of 821 Division II-III men and women were announced last week, which included four Gustavus women’s hockey student-athletes and two from the men’s squad.

Kristen Cash (So., Roseville, Minn.), Erin Moes (Jr., Hastings, Minn.), Taylor Nelson (So., Plymouth, Minn.), and Paulina Scheid (So., Stillwater, Minn.) were recognized on the women’s side, while Axel Hallin (So., Hovas, Sweden) and Colton Schmidt (So., Eden Prairie, Minn.) received the honor on the men’s side.

In the first year of this program a year ago, a total of 1,261 athletes reached the standard. The 2017-18 total is 1,310. A small number of waivers to the 40 percent participation requirement was granted due to injury or for backup goaltenders.
