BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Athlete of the Week award winner for men’s tennis on Tuesday and Gustavus’s Patrick Whaling (Jr., Manakin Sabot, Va.) was honored with the distinction.

Whaling was a key contributor for the Gusties last week, as they claimed the consolation championship at the ITA Division III National Team Indoor Championships. Whaling won all three of his No. 3 singles matches in third-set breakers and went 2-1 at doubles against nationally-ranked opponents. His singles victories against Emory and Carnegie Mellon came against Nos. 20 and 44 in the nation, while his win against Redlands clinched the match for Gustavus.
