Draayer Named MIAC Women’s Hockey Athlete Of The Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Women’s Hockey Athlete of the Week award this afternoon, with Diana Draayer (Sr., Deephaven, Minn.) earning the weekly honor. 

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Women’s Hockey Athlete of the Week award this afternoon, with Diana Draayer (Sr., Deephaven, Minn.) earning the weekly honor. 

No. 6-ranked Gustavus swept the No. 5-ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls, headlined by a hat-trick performance from Draayer. 

The senior co-captain receives her first MIAC Athlete of the Week accolade after recording her second career hat trick on Wednesday versus the Falcons at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Draayer scored her fifth, sixth, and seventh goals of the season in the 4-3 victory, including two unassisted and the game-winner. The Gusties traveled across the border on Saturday, picking up the series sweep with a 2-1 victory as Draayer notched three shots on goal.

Gustavus will enjoy a three-week holiday break prior to returning to action Jan. 5-6 for a non-conference series at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis.
