BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award this afternoon, with Miranda Rice (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) earning the weekly honor.

Gustavus remained unbeaten in 2017-18 with wins over Augsburg and Hamline, while Rice became the 12th Gustavus women’s basketball player to reach the 1,000 career points mark on Saturday versus the Pipers.

The Gustie’s top scorer went 17-for-26 from the field in two games, averaging 18.5 points per game with 10 rebounds. On Wednesday versus the Auggies, Rice tallied 18 points with a season-best 69.2 field goal percentage and followed up that performance with a team-high 19 points on 8-13 shooting.

Her field goal percentage of 57.9 and points-per-game clip of 18.0 both rank second-highest among MIAC competitors in 2017 while earning her first MIAC weekly accolade.

Next up, Gustavus hosts University of St. Thomas Wednesday evening at Gus Young Court.
