The Gustavus Adolphus women’s soccer team defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 2-1 in overtime on Sunday afternoon in St. Peter, Minnesota. The Prairie Wolves scored just 2:18 into the first half with a goal from Lindsay Priefert. The Gusties equalized twelve minutes later with a goal from Liz Peterson. Samantha Engh assisted on the goal for Gustavus.
The game would stay locked at one goal apiece after the 90-minutes of play. Amy Larson scored the gamewinner 7:37 into the overtime. The Gusties were outshot 20-13 but held 6-2 advantage on corner kicks. Tori Boughton recorded the win for Gustavus making 14 saves.
The Gusties improve to 1-1-1 overall and will begin conference play on Thursday at home against St. Olaf College.
In other women’s soccer action, Loras College defeated Concordia College 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Concordia took a 1-0 lead at 47:00 with a goal from Morgan Bain. Loras tied the game at 70:00 with a goal from Michelle Weiser. Katie Whitney scored the gamewinner for the Duhawks at 79:00.
