Swimming & Diving Hosts Fourth Annual Race For Grace Saturday

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to host the fourth annual Grace Goblirsch Memorial Invitational on Saturday at the Vic Gustafson Pool. The Race For Grace honors former Gustie swimmer Grace Goblirsch who passed away on August 23, 2013 after fighting a courageous eight-month battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to host the fourth annual Grace Goblirsch Memorial Invitational on Saturday at the Vic Gustafson Pool. The Race For Grace honors former Gustie swimmer Grace Goblirsch who passed away on August 23, 2013 after fighting a courageous eight-month battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.

Competing in Saturday’s meet alongside Gustavus includes Augsburg University, Macalester College, Morningside College, and St. Catherine University. The day begins with diving events at 9 a.m., followed by the men’s and women’s 1650 freestyle races at 10:15 a.m. The remaining races will resume at 1:30 p.m.

Last time out: The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams hosted St. Olaf in a MIAC dual meet last Saturday at Vic Gustafson Pool. The Gustie men won 215-77, while the women won 168-131. The women claimed nine first-place finishes and the men claimed 13 in the convincing win.
