BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Patrick Whaling (Manikob Sabot, Va.) went 4-0 on the weekend and helped the Gusties win their 17th-straight match before the impressive streak was finally snapped by NCAA Division I opponent North Dakota. Whaling won both singles matches at the No. 3 position and both at the No. 1 doubles, including helping guide the team to a win over No. 36-ranked Coe College. He was a 6-3, 6-4, singles winner and an 8-4 doubles winner against Coe, and he also helped Gustavus score a 9-0 sweep of conference foe Saint John’s with a 6-1, 6-1, singles win and an 8-4 doubles win. Whaling is now 14-2 in singles play and 13-3 in doubles matches this season, and his Gusties are now 17-3 overall and 7-0 in conference play.
