ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team heads back in to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening, traveling to Minneapolis, Minn. to face Augsburg College. The Gusties are set to tip off against the Auggies at 7 p.m.

Setting the scene: The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play to start the new year Wednesday evening, traveling to Minneapolis, Minn. to take on Augsburg College. The Gusties enter with a 11-0 overall record while the Auggies are 8-3. Gustavus most recently earned its 11th win of the season Dec. 29, defeating the University of Wisconsin-River Falls by a score of 60-56 to remain undefeated. The Series: Wednesday’s contest marks the 69th all-time meeting between Gustavus and Augsburg with the Gusties holding a 57-11 record against the Auggies. Last season, Gustavus earned two wins over Augsburg.
Scouting the Auggies: Augsburg College owns an 8-3 overall record while going 1-3 in conference play. The Auggies most recently defeated the Univeristy of Wisconsin-River Falls by a score of 76-68 Dec. 17. As a team, Augsburg leads the MIAC with an average of 78.5 points per game and a 40.1 percent three-point field goal percentage.
Gustavus notables:
– The Gusties’ 11-0 start marks the second best start in program history. The 2002-03 Gustavus squad began the season with a 13-0 record before suffering its first loss.
– Gustavus ranks first in the MIAC in steals per game with 13.8.
– The Dec. 29 60-56 win at UW-River Falls was just the second time this season in which a game was decided by single figures.
– Mikayla Miller (So., Goodhue, Minn.) leads the Gusties in scoring, averaging 18.5 points per game – which ranks tied for first in the MIAC.
– Hannah Howard (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) ranks second in the MIAC with a 60.9 field goal percentage.
– Miranda Rice (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) ranks among the top-five scorers in the MIAC, averaging 15.7 points per game. Her 59.0 field goal percentage also ranks among the top-five.
