ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s hockey team is set to face off for a non-conference series with the No. 3 ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

The Falcons (8-1, 2-1 WIAC) host the Gusties (6-3-1, 3-2-1 MIAC) at Hunt Arena in River Falls, Wis. at 7 p.m. Wednesday. On Saturday, Gustavus hosts UW-River Falls at Don Roberts Ice Rink at 2 p.m.

Last Time Out: Gustavus most recently swept a series with the College of Saint Benedict, winning by scores of 3-1 and 3-2. On Friday in St. Peter, the Gusties outshot the Blazers by a mark of 53-8. On Saturday in St. Cloud, Gustavus came back from an early 1-0 deficit to score three unanswered goals.

Series Snapshot: Wednesdays’s game marks the 33rd all-time meeting between the Gustavus and UW-River Falls women’s hockey programs. Gustavus owns a 21-7-4 record over UW-River Falls and is 4-3-2 against the Falcons over the last five seasons. Last season, the Gusties lost twice against the Falcons.

About the Falcons: The No. 3 ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls is off to an 8-1 start in the 2016-17 campaign, while going 2-1 thus far in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchups. The Falcons most recently earned wins over the University of Wisconsin-Superior and the College of St. Scholastica last weekend, winning by impressive marks of 9-0 and 6-0. UW-River Falls has outscored opponents 41-11 and ranks first among the WIAC in goals per game, averaging 4.56. Senior forward Dani Sibley leads the Falcons with 21 points (12g-9a) in nine games played and her 1.33 goals per game ranks first in the nation.

Gustavus Notables:

– Gustavus posted 53 shots in the 3-1 win over Saint Benedict Dec. 2. The last time Gustavus had 50 or more shots was against St. Olaf during the 2012-13 season. The last time Gustavus allowed less than eight shots was during the 2013-14 season when the Gusties allowed just seven shots on goal in a win over Augsburg College.

Nicole Abraham (Fy., St. Paul, Minn.) scored her first collegiate goal on the power play Dec. 2, her goal also stood as the game-winner in the 3-1 win over Saint Benedict.

– Gustavus tallied a power play goal for the fourth consecutive game Dec. 3 at Saint Benedict, Katy Fuller (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.) notched her first goal of the season. The Gusties are 5-1 when they score a goal on the man advantage.

– Co-Captain Allie Lewis (Sr., Kearney, Neb.) also tallied her first goal of the season Dec. 3 at Saint Benedict.

Kaitlyn Klein (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) scored goals in each game of the Saint Benedict series and leads the Gusties with five goals and one assist on the season.
