ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team hosts Buena Vista University for a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon at Gus Young Court. The 4-0 Gusties are set to tip off against the 2-2 Beavers at 1 p.m.

Setting the scene: The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team hosts the Buena Vista Universtity Beavers for a non-conference matchup saturday afternoon at Gus Young Court. Gustavus enters with a 4-0 overall record while Buena Vista is 2-2 on the season. Gustvaus most recently earned its fourth win of the season at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, defeating the Eagles by a score of 67-47. Mikayla Miller (Jr., Goodhue, Minn.) recorded a career-high 34 points to lead the Gusties.
The series: Saturday afternoon’s contest marks the 5th all-time meeting between Gustavus and Buena Vista with the Gusties holding a 3-1 record over the Beavers. A season ago, Gustavus defeated Buena Vista by a score of 106-93 in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Scouting the Beavers: Buena Vista has begun the 2016-17 campaign going 2-2 and most recently captured its second win of the season in its home opener against Waldorf University, winning by a score of 93-51. The Beavers have averaged 73 points per game and have shot 34 percent from the field as a team. Junior Claudia Larsen leads the Beavers, averaging 12.5 points per game.
