BLAINE, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team earned a split at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Showcase on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over St. Olaf. Colin Hernon (Jr., Bloomington, Minn.) scored his second goal in as many days, while Russell Barone (Fy., Mohena, Ill.) netted his first collegiate goal soon after, which proved to be the game-winner.

The Oles scored their lone goal in the second period, but the Gusties responded with two unanswered goals in the third period off the sticks of Van Sullivan (So., Brentwood, Tenn.) and Sam Majka (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.).

The Gusties outshot the Oles 37-24, while Erik Johnson (Sr., Sauk Rapids, Minn.) earned the win in goal after making 23 saves.

Gustavus hosts its home opener Friday against defending national champion UW-Stevens Point.
