GRINNELL, Iowa – Gustavus men’s track & field throwing specialist Sam Fischer (Sr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) took 15th place in the weight throw Friday at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Grinnell College. Fischer posted a mark of 16.38 meters (53-9) on his first toss, and could not better his throw in the next two attempts.
Luis Rivera of Nazareth won the event with a facility-record throw of 20.45 meters. Tyler Burdoff of Baldwin Wallace took second (19.08 meters) and Adedire Fakorede of Bates placed third (18.83 meters).
The indoor season is officially complete for Gustavus as it transitions to the outdoor season, which begins March 26 at the Point Loma Nazarine University Collegiate Invite in San Diego, Calif.
