COON RAPIDS, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team wasn’t able to move up the leader board after the third and final round of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship, hosted at Bunker Hills Golf Club, as it finished in sixth place. The Gusties collectively shot a 345 on day one and bettered their score to a 334 on day two, but then gained a shot on day three to 335 for a three-round total of 1014.

“The women battled really hard out there today to try and move up the leader board,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “We just could not get into a great stretch of holes. The effort was fantastic and it was nice to see our freshman Ellie finish on a good note.”

Ellie Brandt (Fy., Wayzata, Minn.) led the way for the Gustie women as she took 16th place with scores of 84-85-80 (249). Chloe Altmann (Sr. Olivia, Minn.) was next in line as she placed 22nd after posting consistent scores of 85-84-85 (254). McKenzie Swenson (So., Buffalo, Minn.) tallied scores of 89-82-84 (255) and tied for 23rd, Mae Meierhenry (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) took 26th and was consistent as well with scores of 87-87-86 (260), and Emilie Anderson (Sr., Osceola, Wis.) tied for 27th with scores of 91-83-87 (261).

Grace Gilmore of Carleton claimed medalist honors with scores of 76-74-81 (231). St. Thomas won the team championship, registering scores of 329-297-311 (937). Carleton took second (959) and St. Catherine took third (967).

The Gusties are now done for the fall season and will continue play in the spring.
