EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Gustavus women’s golf team had a large lead going into day two of the Doug Georgianni Memorial Invite on Monday and improved upon its day one score to claim the title.
The Gusties shot 324 in round one and 318 in round two for a total score of 642.
McKenzie Swenson took medalist honors with a score of 156. Swenson shot a 79 on day one and followed that up with a 77 on day two.
Mae Meierhenry took second with a score of 81-76-157. Her second round score of 76 was the tournament low.
Emilie Anderson took third with a total of 83-82-165, Chloe Altmann tied for fourth at 81-86-167 and Ellie Brandt took sixth at 85-83-168.
The second Gustavus team took second place, shooting 342 on both days for a total of 684. Jessica Nelson led the second team as she tied for fourth place with a score of 86-81-167.
“I’m happy that we equaled and bettered our scores from yesterday,” Assistant Coach Randy Stuckey said. “The gals really worked hard and finished strong. When we are committed to out shots good things can happen.”
Next up for the Gusties is the Carleton Invitational on Sept. 19-20.
