Women’s Golf Tied For Second After Day One Of Blugold Invite

EAU CLAIRE, WIS. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team is tied for second place following the first day of the Blugold Invitational at the Wild Ridge Golf Course in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. With a score of 322 (+34), the Gusties are tied with fellow MIAC foe Carleton and are just one shot behind first place Bethel University who leads the field with a 321 (+33).

“We had a great start today…the greens were very firm and fast, but we are looking forward to doing a better job of keeping the ball below the hole tomorrow,” said head coach Scott Moe. ”

Lauren Johnson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) led Gustavus on day one, as she scored a 77 (+5) to finish in a tie for second place in the individual standings, three shots behind leader McKenize Parks of Carthage College. First-year McKenzie Swenson (St. Louis Park, Minn.) was close behind Johnson, as she tied for fourth place in the individual standings with a 79 (+7).

“Lauren had a nice birdie on the 18th hole to fire a 77, which was a great round for her,” said Moe. “We’re looking forward to a fun round tomorrow!”

The Gusties will complete their time in Eau Claire tomorrow, with the first tee-time scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
