Women’s Hockey Now No. 6 In Both USCHO And D3Hockey Polls

SAINT PETER, MINN. – Following a series sweep over the College of Saint Benedict this past Friday and Saturday, the Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team maintained its No. 6 ranking in the USCHO Division III women’s hockey poll and jumped from No. 7 to No. 6 in the D3Hockey women’s national poll, each of which were released Monday.

Gustavus earned a pair of shutouts against the Blazers, including a 3-0 victory on Friday in St. Peter and a 2-0 win on Saturday in St. Cloud. In each game, the Gusties tallied two power play goals, and the team is now on a streak of six games in which it has converted on power play opportunities.

Both polls have a new leader this week after new-No. 1 Elmira College swept Plattsburgh State University 2-1 and 6-2, respectively. The losses were the first of the season for No. 2 Plattsburgh. Gustavus overtook Amherst College in the D3Hockey poll after the Lord Jeffs were defeated 3-0 by Connecticut College on Saturday.
