Men’s Soccer To Host Carleton In MIAC Semifinals Wednesday

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s soccer team is set for a battle against Carleton College in the semifinals of the MIAC Playoffs on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Gusie Soccer Field. After going 13-4-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the MIAC, Gustavus finished runner-up in the final MIAC Standings with 22 points.  With the tiebreaker over Carleton, who also went 7-2-1 in league play, Gustavus earned the No. 2 seed and with it a first round bye in the MIAC Playoffs.  The Knight’s head into Wednesday’s match at 10-6-2 overall after defeating St. Thomas 2-0 in the quarterfinals on Tuesday in Northfield.

“We’ll certainly have to be on our mettle, and I have to say I think their coaches have done an excellent job getting their team up to the level they are at,” said Head Coach Mike Middleton about Wednesday’s game.  “This will not be the same game we saw at the start of the year when we went up 3-0 by halftime and then cantered through the rest of the game.  This game will be much more competitive and a true test for our lads.  This is going to be a tough game that could go either way.”
