Men’s Soccer Heads To Pacific Northwest For Matches Against Pacific Lutheran And Puget Sound

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s soccer team will travel to Tacoma, Washington for a pair of matches against Northwest Athletic Conference opponents this weekend.  The Gusties will kick off the weekend on Friday, Sept. 5 with a match against the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran University set for 9:00 p.m. (CST).  The Black and Gold will then conclude its trip to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday, Sept. 7 with a match against the Loggers of the University of Puget Sound at 4:00 p.m. (CST).

Gustavus heads into its two non-conference tests with an overall record of 2-1-0 after defeating Bethany Lutheran 7-0 on Wednesday in Mankato.  Pacific Lutheran is 1-1-0 following a 1-0 loss at Cal Lutheran on Sunday, while Puget Sound comes in looking for its first win at 0-1-1 after suffering a 2-1 loss at Redlands on Sunday.

“Fingers crossed we can get through Friday’s game and give ourselves a chance on Sunday,” said Head Coach Mike Middleton.  “We are a bit like a heavyweight champion traveling around to all challengers at the moment!  We have another two teams who were in the NSCAA National Top Twenty-five next weekend as well.  Still, the lads are saying ‘bring it on!’”
