Women’s Golf Set To Compete in Augustana Invitational

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. this weekend to compete in the Augustana Invitational which will be held Saturday and Sunday at Bakker Crossing Golf Course. The eight-team, 36-hole tournament will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun on both days. Joining the Gusties on the weekend will be host Augustana College, Minnesota State University, Mankato, Dakota Wesleyan University, University of Sioux Falls, Winona State University, University of Minnesota, Crookston and Iowa Western Community College.

At the 2013 Augustana Invitational, Minnesota State, Mankato was the course champion after shooting a 602 (301-301). Gustavus finished fifth overall and was led by Sam Falk (Sr., Glenwood, Minn.). Falk shot a 157 (+15) to come in a tie for 13th place. Lauren Johnson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) was close behind Falk and also placed in the top 20 after totaling a 158 (+16). Johnson finished tied for 17th place.

The Gusties will look to build off of this past weekend’s performance in the Georgianni Invitational held in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Gustavus found itself in a tie for eighth place after the tournament’s first day, but improved enough on day two to finish fifth overall. Jordan Drenttel (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) and Mae Meierhenry (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.) led the Gusties on the weekend by both scoring a 157 (+12), which put the pair in a tie for fourth overall.
