St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus volleyball team reported to campus on Friday, Aug. 15 and after nearly one week’s worth of preseason training, Head Coach Rachelle Sherden is happy with the progress her team has made.
“We are on day six and the girls are working hard,” said Sherden. “We have a large returning class and a large first-year class, so it has been a lot of fun in the gym. It has been competitive and the girls are clicking well together, which has been awesome to see.”
The Gustavus volleyball team will get its first taste of match-like competition on Friday, Aug. 22 when it travels to the campus of St. Olaf College for a scrimmage. Following a final preseason week of training the Gusties will open their 2014 schedule at the Ground Round Sugar Loaf Classic being held Aug. 29-30 at Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota.
