Tyler McMorrow Named All-Conference In MIAC’s Postseason Men’s Golf Awards

St. Paul – Gustavus Adolphus men’s golfer Tyler McMorrow (St. Cloud, Minn.) has been honored as a member of the All-Conference Team as a part of the 2013-14 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Awards released Monday by the league office.

The MIAC All-Conference team has a different look this season, as the top 10 finishers from the MIAC Championships automatically received a spot on the squad, and the coaches were able to elect up to five additional selections based on their play throughout the full season.

Although he missed out on a top 10 standing at this season’s MIAC Championships, McMorrow bounced back with a strong spring season. He finished the year with a team-best stroke average of 75.5 (+4) after 23 rounds and 1,737 strokes. He posted a career-low score of 66 (-4) in a dual victory against Minnesota State University, Mankato on Sept. 4, and registered three top ten finishes in tournament play. The highlight of McMorrow’s senior season came on April 21-22 when he won the 87-player Bobby Krig Invitational with a three-round 221 (+9). Against players in the MIAC who played at least 19 rounds, McMorrow’s season average ranks fourth.

Tyler McMorrow finishes his Gustavus career a two-time All-Conference performer with an All-American accolade in 2013 after finishing fifth overall at the NCAA Championships. With a career average of 75.2, McMorrow receives the program’s Iron Man award by playing in every event and all 92 rounds of his collegiate career.

As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC announced the eighth annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for men’s golf. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition. Andrew Brandt (So., Medina, Minn.) was selected as Gustavus’s representative on this year’s All-Sportsmanship Team.
