Women’s Tennis Takes On Carleton In MIAC Championship Saturday

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s tennis team will travel to Northfield, Minn., to take on Carleton College in the 2014 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women’s Tennis Playoff Championship on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.  Saturday’s championship will take place at Carleton’s Bell Field Courts.

The second-seeded Gusties defeated third-seeded St. Thomas on Thursday in St. Peter in the first MIAC Semifinal.  Gustavus swept all three doubles matches on its way to a 5-1 win.  Similarly, top-seeded and regular season champ Carleton notched a 5-2 win over fourth-seeded St. Catherine at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville, Minn.  The match was moved due to inclement weather, but had no effect on the Knights, who took two of the three doubles matches before capturing wins in three of the first four singles matches to finish to take the win.

The MIAC has a home page dedicated to the 2014 MIAC Women’s Tennis Playoffs, containing schedules, links and information on each of the six teams in the field. Throughout the tournament, the page will be updated with scores, stats, updated schedules and more. The MIAC also has a new interactive bracket for the tournament, that will also include links to follow each game live, postgame recaps and stats in addition to the update scores and schedules.

Fans can also track all the Playoff action on the MIAC Scoreboard or the MIAC mobile app, which is a free download for both Apple and Android devices. Connect throughout the tournament on social media through the MIAC’s Facebook page or Twitter account, using the hashtags #MIACWT and #MIACPlayoffs.
