Gustavus senior Lisa Brown (Lake Crystal, Minn.) finished third in the javelin at the prestigious Drake Relays with a NCAA automatic distance of 161 feet. Brown, whose mark is the second-best throw in Division III so far this outdoor season, was the only non-Division I competitor to finish in the top ten. Kara Patterson of Purdue won the event with a throw of 177 feet, 9 inches.
Brown was the only member of the Gustavus women’s track and field team competing at this year’s Drake Relays.
