Denver, Colo. – The Gustavus Adolphus nordic skiing teams have placed three members – Megan Allen (Jr., Duluth, Minn.), Tyler Gustafson (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.), and Marian Lund (Sr., Duluth, Minn.) – on the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA) 2014 National Collegiate All-Academic Team. The Gusties honored are three of 255 total skiers from 30 institutions around the country to be awarded.
The honor is awarded to those skiers who participated in the three skiing conferences nationally that qualify their skiers to the NCAA Championships each season. Honorees must compete in an NCAA Regional competition, and maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 in the classroom. All skiers from their respective regions are automatically eligible to compete in an NCAA Regional competition.
The Gustavus trio is also three of 57 individuals to be honored from the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA). Michigan Tech University had the most honorees in the CCSA with 13 members named to the team.
Allen, an elementary education major, currently holds a 3.6 cumulative GPA, while Gustafson has a GPA of 3.7 in economics and Marian Lund posts a cumulative GPA of 3.8 in biology.
